For those who are old enough to remember the fabulous BBC Light Programme weekend pop shows EASY BEAT and SATURDAY CLUB you will remember these three fabulous vocalists who would perform live the current hits of the day backed by the legendary Johnny Howard and his Band.
Every Saturday and Sunday these three top rate singers would perform the hits of artists such as Sonny and Cher, The Hollies, Cilla Black, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and a host of other current chart topping artists.
Sadly, these programmes came to an end in 1967 with the introduction of BBC Radio One, but the dynamic trio continued their musical careers recording for a host of record labels producing soundalike copies of the hits of the day to the highest possible quality. DANNY STREET was a regular member of the very successful CLIFF ADAMS SINGERS, while LAURA LEE was in much demand as a member of the ever popular LADYBIRDS backing group. Meanwhile, TONY STEVEN was to be heard virtually daily on the BBC Radio Two airwaves on programmes such as THE TERRY WOGAN SHOW and many other easy listening programmes.
The 21 recordings compiled for this Limited Collectors' Edition CD were recorded between 1969 and 1972. Six of the songs on this album were never released in the United Kingdom - they were produced for the North American market. The majority of tracks on this compilation were issued in the UK on the AVENUE RECORDS LABEL which in itself is now highly collectable.
